About Michael J. Gallagher
I have over 35 years of experience as a trial lawyer and have represented individuals in Michigan, Illinois and California. My goal is to help relieve the suffering and worry an injury causes an individual and their family. It is a noble calling and an increasing challenge.

Many organizations and industries seek to limit or take away your rights to fair compensation. Innocent injury victims or their surviving family members deserve the right to be fairly compensated if a jury assembled from their community agrees. My dedication to ensuring your rights is powerful, thorough and fearless.

I paid for my own education. I worked in a Chicago funeral home as an Assistant Manager while attending Loyola University and graduated in 1966 with a Bachelor of Business Administration degree.

I then attended DePaul University School of Law and financed my legal education by driving a city bus in Chicago and, later, working as a brakeman on the Rock Island Railroad. I received my law degree in 1968.

Immediately following graduation in 1968, I began my legal career as an Assistant Prosecutor in Champaign, Illinois. During the next two years, I had extensive trial experience including Felony Prosecution. I then transferred to a firm exclusively handling Personal Injury work for Plaintiffs and also did defense work for State Farm Insurance. Consequently, I've had experience on both sides of the Personal Injury Field and have an understanding of the Insurance Claim process.

I became licensed in Michigan in 1972 and accepted the position of Chief Assistant Prosecutor in Livingston County, Howell, Michigan. A very difficult murder case and other challenging suits extended my courtroom experience during this time period.

In 1975 I established my private practice and began to represent injured plaintiffs. As my compassion for injured clients grew, helping them obtain compensation became a driving force for me. By 1980, a significant amount of my time was being spent fighting insurance companies for seriously injured people and their families. For the past ten years, my practice has been totally devoted to personal injury cases.

To most effectively represent you and to properly prepare a successful case, I sometimes join forces with other attorneys who specialize in particular facets of personal injury law. When a case warrants it, I will pay to bring in experts from various fields. I pay the fees for these services along with the charges for depositions and other costs which help bring your case to trial. There is no cost to you unless I am successful in helping you obtain a favorable settlement.

On a personal level, my interests are varied. I’ve been active in local and civic organizations including the Brighton Chamber of Commerce, as a Board Member, and later as its Vice President. In addition, I have served on the Advisory Board for the Salvation Army.
